How Rug Restoration Works

It is important to find the appropriate kind of restorations for your timeless oriental rugs. This depends greatly on how much you are willing to invest.

  • Reweaving - Involves a complete process of reconstructing the area of damage, a labor of love which is often returning to the original state

  • Patching - Most economical option to fix damage by finding a piece and sewing to the damaged area from another rug, often not an exact match but will fix the damaged area.

  • Kashmiring - Filling thread bare areas of a rug through needle work.

  • Edging /Fringes - Brand new fringes or if minor then a reweave and revitalizing the edge

  • Rug reducing - Customizing size of a rug to fit your need by cutting and removing a piece and then resewing the rug together

  • Touch ups- Involves matching colors with waterproof ink to restore the white dots.

  • Washing - Hand washing with no chemicals for color maintenance with attention to preserve and protect for longer life

  • Mothproofing - generally completed after washing
